August 1, 2024
Dear Seventh grade student and family,
Let me first start by welcoming you and the Class of 2030, to the Junior-Senior High School! August is here and that means school is just around the corner. I hope all of you are having a fun summer and are looking forward to the exciting opportunities that await you in the junior-senior high school. The purpose of this letter is to provide information about your new school and upcoming events for the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. As not to overwhelm you with information, I will detail items of importance in this letter. During orientation night, we will cover items in greater detail.
Student Schedules will be printed and available for you during orientation night. You may hear the phrase “student schedules will be active in Sapphire” on August 15th. This means, if you have access to your Sapphire account, you may access your class schedule in Sapphire on Aug. 15th.
• If you know your Sapphire username and password: Log into the community portal on Sapphire, you will be able to obtain and print your schedule under the courses and grades tab. Under the student information tab, you also have access to your locker number and combination. If you don’t know your information, staff will be available orientation night to assist in accessing Sapphire.
Counselors will be in prior to the start of the school year to schedule new students. If you have a class(es) missing from your schedule you may contact your counselor during this time via email. Priority will be given to students with no schedules, then missing courses, and finally change requests. Once school starts you may make an appointment with your counselor for a possible schedule change. The 7th grade counselor is Mr. Jon Mikesell, jmikesell@clearfield.org. You may also call the guidance office at (814) 765-5511 ext. 2500.

However, availability will be based on device arrival and preparation of the device for disbursement. Grade level ipad pick dates will be communicated via website, social media communications and/or Sapphire. Please be on the lookout for information on student iPads as we get closer to the start of school.
Upcoming beginning of the year events:
CASD In-service Days (No Students): August 20th & 21st
Grade 7/New Student Orientation: Tuesday, August 20 from 6-7:30 pm in the auditorium.
All 7th grade students and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. Orientation is an important step in understanding school expectations and getting a glimpse of the typical daily routine. We will cover everything from the beginning of the school day to dismissal and everything in between. The goal of orientation is for students to know the expectations and understand what a typical daily routine looks like in the junior-senior high school.
After orientation, families are invited to tour the building, meet classroom teachers, find lockers and visit our Bison photo booth (all 7th grade students need a picture)! After being here for the 6th grade tour, we are confident your student will be able to lead their family around to their classes, not to worry, a map will be provided to assist each student.
Every student who attends Welcome Back Night will have a chance to enter a drawing for an item of their choice: credit at the Bison Café Snack Shack or a free home sports pass!
First Day of School: Thursday, August 22nd
We look forward to seeing the Class of 2030 at Welcome Back Night to communicate all the exciting activities and opportunities the junior-senior high school has to offer you! GO BISON!
Sincerely,
Heather Prestash, Principal
Eric Scaife, Assistant Principal
Andy Brickley, Assistant Principal
